Licensure For Naturopathic Doctors in Maine

Naturopathic Doctors have been licensed doctors in Maine since 1996. They hold Naturopathic medical licenses granted by the State of Maine’s Board of Complementary Health Care Providers.

NATIONAL NATUROPATHIC ASSOCIATIONS

American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP)
The national professional society representing naturopathic physicians who are licensed or eligible for licensing as primary care providers. The MAND is a Chartered State Organization of the AANP.

North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE/NPLEX)

NABNE is responsible for approving applicants to take the NPLEX, and for administering the examinations. The NPLEX – Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examination(s) – is the examination that graduates of one of the approved naturopathic medical colleges must pass to be licensed in Maine as well as any of the states or provinces that license/register naturopathic physicians.

Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME)

Recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as the national accrediting agency for programs leading to the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D. or N.M.D.) or Doctor of Naturopathy (N.D.) degree.
